Teachers

Fifteen teachers make up the Balo staff.  In addition to being highly educated and proficient in written and verbal English, they go above and beyond the expectations of any instructor.  They are incredibly devoted to their students and Balo work.  If children are unable to attend class due to monsoons flooding the streets, the teachers come in on Saturday and teach the lessons again.  When students are applying to the school, they conduct home interviews and visit with each of the 100 families that received an application.  They meet regularly with parents after school and on weekends in small groups and one-on-one to educate them on the instruction and development of their children.

The teachers set a warm, inviting, and positive climate in the school.  They laugh, smile, enjoy Marzina’s chai and cooking together.  Their comradery is evident as they are spotted walking the streets after a day with children, smiles on their faces, and arms slung over shoulders.  Their dedication doesn’t stop.
